Storm Windows in St. Johns County, FL
There are a number of options when it comes to adding energy efficiency to your windows. One option that some homeowners go with are storm windows. These are additional windows that go over your existing windows to provide additional layers of insulation to your current windows. They help with reducing the energy costs associated with cooling your home, helping to pay for themselves in energy cost savings.
If you want to take things further, you can look at the hurricane impact windows. These are high performance windows that are similar to the vehicle windshield on your car or truck. There is a polymer layer sandwiched between two layers of glass, and this layering helps to keep the window from fully breaking into pieces.
When flying debris threatens to hit your home, these hurricane impact windows can take the blow. The glass will spiderweb but should not break, and if it does break it will be in small pieces like safety glass. These will also help to protect the inside of your home from getting wet from the heavy rain.

The county was established in 1821. It is one of the two original counties established after Florida was ceded to the United States, at the start of the Florida Territorial period, and corresponded roughly to the former colonial province of East Florida. It was named for the St. Johns River, which runs along its western border. The name Saint John’s was derived from the Spanish mission (c. 1580) San Juan del Puerto (“Saint John of the Harbor”). The U.S. Department of the Interior dropped the apostrophe in 1932 because an apostrophe implied ownership.
